I absolutely love it when you have those moments when God just speaks to you at precisely the right time.
At the end of May I went away for two weeks to be on the ministry team in California with my church and for the most part of it, I really felt like God just wouldn’t use me at all. I felt like I wasn’t in the right place to be constantly praying for others, especially when some of what I was praying into was what I had been struggling with. There were some nights where I just didn’t want to pray for anyone…I just felt that useless.
But then God being God, he revealed something to me just at the right time. In one of the meetings, someone spoke about 2 Corinthians 12:9;
“…”My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
I have heard this verse so many times and it’s one that I’ve always just overlooked slightly and never really thought much about but, in that moment of weakness that I was in, it hit me so hard. He was the strength I needed to get me through the times when I am weak. Whether I am praying for others or even trying to figure out my life!
I think a lot of the time, when I find myself in my weakest places, I can start praying for strength. It seems like the right thing to do really. But rather than praying for my own strength, I really need to be praying that God will be my strength.
I know so many people, including myself, who are starting to find out what God is calling them to do and the majority of them have said that they feel that the task is simply too big for them to go through with. But if God has called you to something, he will never let you go through it alone. It all goes back to the 2 Corinthians verse. When we feel like we are in our weakest moment and that we can’t achieve what he has planned, our God, who is all powerful and greater than anything we can imagine, will be our guide and our strength through it all and will always go before us.
It’s easy for us to think that we can get through life on our own, as independent human beings. But the truth is we really can’t. If we try to do life alone we will very quickly find that it is much more difficult than if we do it with God. That’s one of the many great things about God.
When we feel alone, He will always be there.
When we feel unloved, He will always love us.
And when we feel weak, He will always be our strength.
When you are called by God to do His work, you need to acknowledge that He has called you and there’s a very good reason as to why you were chosen to do it!
God will never call you to do any task if He didn’t think you could do it. And anyway, we would never do it alone. We always have Him with us to be our strength and to guide us. If God brings you to do it, He will bring you through it. It all reminds me of the famous verse in Philippians…
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
