Go home

How often do you have a really good look at your hands? Go on, have a sneaky peak right now. Weird, aren’t they?

Think about all the things they do, all the talent and potential they represent. Yet right now they probably just look plain and empty; they look kind of unimpressive.

Prayer’s like that. Kind of.

Look at it on its own and it’s kind of ordinary – just a collection of words and thoughts and ideas and feelings. But it’s got potential. Lots of potential.

  • Prayer can stir up hearts
  • Prayer can change lives
  • Prayer can end poverty

How? God.

God does it. Prayer works because of the one we’re praying to. And it gets us closer to God too. No wonder Jesus told his disciples to do plenty of it – just take a look at what he says about it in Luke 18.

A week of prayer
If you share this passion, will you and your church pray? We're standing with our friends over at Tearfund and getting involved in their Global poverty prayer week. For a whole 7 days, from the 12–18 November, we're focussing on God and calling out to him for the world we live in. Why not get your church involved in this exciting global prayer focus?

Keep the 12-18 November free in your calendar so you can get involved.

Remember: when we pray, God responds. And he reminds us that discipleship is about biting off a challenge so big that it consumes you. A whole-life mission which affects every part. What theologians term an ‘integral mission’ (Read more about integral mission here: GO>>)
