Before you begin to think seriously about applying for a Transform Durban 2008 team then you’ll probably want to know a few key things. Here we’ve identified some of the key issues that might help you make your decision!
Length and time of placements
At present we're offering placements for 3 months from September 08.
Specific details of the projects involved and the length of teams can be found on this page (GO>>).
If you're hoping to Go for a shorter period of time then check the SOULINTHECITY DURBAN teams that are heading out for two weeks in the summer of 2008 as a trial for the 2009 mission (find out more here: GO>>).
Cost of placements
Costs of placements for 2008 depends on how long you hope to go on a team for. The three month teams will cost in the region of £3000 , with the longer you go for incurring greater costs. Please note this is just a rough guide, so it's not an exact and final figure.
What’s included in the cost?
Included in this cost is everything from flights, accommodation, insurance and food. This will also help cover the cost of a pre trip orientation and post trip reunion.
What’s not included?
Spending money, cost of any necessary jabs, transport to and from the orientation/reunion and costs of travel to and from your designated departure/arrival airport in the UK will need to be covered by yourself.
Deposit
On application we’ll ask for a deposit of £50 to cover basic administration. A refund will be considered if you cannot travel and will be given if we cannot place you.
Application deadlines
Although teams won't be heading out until September, we need applications filled out and with us by 23rd May at the very latest. You can apply with the forms on this page (GO>>)
Shorter term summer SOULINTHECITY Durban teams are also, accepting applications. Finmd out more here (GO>>).
Should the trips be oversubscribed then we will have to make decsions based on date of application, team balance and suitability to placement. Applications received after this date may not be accepted.
Payment deadlines
Final payment deadlines, once you have been accepted on a team, will be confirmed with those who ahve been accepted on team. You may be asked to pay a second deposit of around £500 nearer the date of the placement. The cost of the trip must be paid in full a month prior to travel.
Orientation
At our week long orientation (week beginning June 23rd 2008), you will receive training, find out more about Durban and Soul Actions work there, and of course meet the rest of your team.
