Application process:
1. Print off and fill in the International Application Form and Reference Forms. Specify which placement you'd like to be considered for and in which project you'd like to serve. Check the 'What to expect' page and have a look at the projects listed for more info (unfortunately we can't guarantee you get to serve in the project of your choice. Specific placements are being worked out with projects as we speak, but do apply anyway).

2. Contact your referees. Ask your pastor or church leader to complete and return to us one reference form. The other should be completed and returned to us by a work supervisor or tutor. We need these returned to us before we can offer you a place.

3. Send in the Application Form, two passport photos and a deposit of £50 (non refundable). Please make cheques payable to Tearfund. Please also read the Small Print (the last pdf below). Deadlines to get these in are the 23rd May.

4. Await an invitation to the interview/selection day on June 5th and then confirm you can come.

5.Once the interview/selection day has been held, we will contact you to say whether we can offer you a place on the programme (this is provisional and subject to medical clearance). As you are likely to be working with children, you will also be required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check.

6. If you are accepted on the programme, you will be asked to attend a week long orientation (week beginning June 23rd 2008), where you will receive training, find out more about Durban and Soul actions work there and of course meet the rest of your team.

We will give you a detailed Preparation Pack before you go overseas, telling you all you need to know to get ready to go, including the necessary forms for getting medical clearance.

After we have confirmed your place and selected you, we will ask you to send in a further deposit of £500. This is for your airfare and again, this is non refundable. If you feel there are extenuating circumstances causing you to withdraw, you are required to put them in writing and we will consider the appropriate course of action with you. The remaining balance is payable 1 month before departure.
