Acts Of Kindness (AOK- geddit?!) day is every Friday and it’s so simple!

Each week we’ll post onto the website a specific AOK, and on Friday we all get out there and make the public smile as we randomly act kindly towards them! Then you can send in your stories and pictures to tell us what happened in your town. It’s reflecting our values and it’s fun because we know that all of us, from Bognor Regis to Wolverhampton to Sunderland are in on it together. It’s a bit like getting up to mischief…except it’s kind!

Of course , you don't just have to stick to our AOK. Invent your own and let us know what you got up to by filling out the form on the 'send in your stories' page!

And What would Jesus Say?
...the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.'
Matt 25: 40

Jesus said, 'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them.
Matt 22: 37

God asks us to do something about injustice in our own communities, nation and world. However, due to the size of the task, it's often hard to know where to begin. The key is... begin small. Do an act of kindness.

Our values are fundamental to how we go about doing life. Essentially are values are based in - and flow from - who we are. So we want to live lives where our values are reflected in everything from the big to the tiny decisions; who we are in the small moments of our day is consistent with that.

Our lives are about worship. We were made for this and we wholeheartedly seek to bring glory to God with our whole lives and with all our actions.

We‘re committed to being people who are outworking and modelling God’s kingdom values in our homes, colleges and workplaces. We’ve set-up AOK day as a new, fun and easy way for us to outwork those values. So as we bless people and make them smile by our random acts, there’s a shift, way beyond the physical, and we see something of Jesus’ life and love made tangible and real, to the people around us!

Just as The Noise is about using acts and deeds of service to communicate the heart of the good news, AOK is something we can do, really easily, any and every day!

Where's AOK From?
We didn't invent this. You may find it hard to believe, but people have been being kind to one another for centuries! We were a bit inspired by some friends over in Canada (check out www.happytuesday.net) who just set a day aside each week to be nice and generous to people without wanting anything in return!

It seems to have caught on. ..

The Church of England have launched Live Lent (www.livelent.net) with the same thing in mind. And it's not just the Church. Author and Comedian Danny Wallace and his 'Join Me' movement encourage people to do nice things for others too, like buying a pint for a person in a pub! They'll all great initiatives and we wanted to get you on board too!
